Imagery: Past & Present
Writers will learn how to create poems incorporating the concept of place by using memory, senses, pictures, and storytelling skills. These poems will demonstrate use of images to give a sense of a real or fictional place. Writers will study poems that show careful craft by other writers who also write about place through images. Writers will craft poems full of images to take the reader to a new place. At the end of the class each writer will complete a portfolio of poetry that reflects the skills learned in class. These poems will show improvements through workshops with professor and cohort, course texts, analyzing established authors’ poems, participating in class discussions of assigned readings, and demonstrating their own growth in writing skills.
Workshop will take place over the course of 7 Saturday afternoon sessions June 10 - July 29 2017 from 1:00-4:00 pm.
Workshop cost is $189 per person. $100 deposit reserves limited space in workshop.
